This mission brings together:
David Joseph Denning 3rd Great-Grandson of the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. and Emma Hale Smith
Dr. Joseph Fife 3rd Great-Grandson of Patriarch Hyrum Smith and Mary Fielding Smith
Roger Cook Descendant of numerous faithful pioneer families of the Restoration
Together, they will visit Taipei, Keelung, Puli, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Hengchun, Taitung, and Hualien, participating in humanitarian service, community gatherings, firesides, and family history initiatives.
A Significant Year This journey comes during two important anniversaries: 70th Anniversary of Missionary Work in Taiwan (1956–2026) 182nd Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum Smith (1844–2026) Seventy years ago, faithful missionaries arrived in Taiwan carrying a testimony of Jesus Christ and the restored gospel. Through sacrifice, faith, and service, they helped establish a foundation that has blessed countless lives.

We come in gratitude for those early missionaries, the Taiwanese Saints who built the Church through generations of devotion, and the many faithful individuals whose lives continue to strengthen the kingdom of God throughout Taiwan.
The purpose of this mission is not to celebrate ancestry. Rather, it is to honor the faith, sacrifice, and devotion to Jesus Christ demonstrated by those who came before us. Two hundred years ago, Joseph Smith and Hyrum Smith helped proclaim a message that changed lives around the world: God lives. Jesus Christ is His Son. The heavens are open. God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to the young Joseph Smith and called him to be a prophet.

Through the gift and power of God, the Book of Mormon was brought forth as another testament of Jesus Christ. Priesthood authority was restored. The Church of Jesus Christ was re-established upon the earth.
Temples were built for the salvation of both the living and the dead. These truths were true then, and they remain true today. Because of these truths, we are blessed to have living prophets and apostles who continue to guide us in our day and invite all people to come unto Christ. A Mission of Service Throughout Taiwan, we hope to participate in acts of service that bless individuals, families, and communities.
Our desire is simple:
To serve where we can To strengthen friendships To build bridges of understanding To encourage faith, hope, and charity To testify of Jesus Christ We recognize that people come from many backgrounds and faith traditions. We believe that good people can work together in love, compassion, and mutual respect to bless the lives of others.

Preserving Family Stories A special emphasis of this mission will be family history and heritage preservation. One of the central purposes of Willing Joseph Smith Liahona is helping families preserve the stories, records, photographs, journals, and memories that connect generations. Every family has a story. Every ancestor matters. Every life leaves a legacy.
Through our "My Mother's Attic" initiative, we invite individuals and families to share and preserve their family histories so that future generations will know who they are and where they came from. As we have learned through our own family histories, preserving memories is not merely about the past—it is a gift to the future.

Our Relationship with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Although participants in this mission are faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this journey is not sponsored by the Church. We travel as family representatives, friends, and volunteers associated with Willing Joseph Smith Liahona Inc.
We stand united with the President of the Church and the Apostles in their invitation to come unto Jesus Christ, strengthen families, gather Israel, and serve God's children throughout the world.

An Invitation To our friends throughout Taiwan:
Thank you for welcoming us into your beautiful country. We look forward to serving alongside you, learning from you, preserving family stories, and sharing our mutual faith in Jesus Christ. May we honor those who came before us, serve those around us today, and leave a legacy of faith, hope, charity, and understanding for future generations.
願神祝福台灣人民。
May God bless the people of Taiwan.
